## Is a LINAC bunker door the same as a diagnostic X-ray room door?

Both form part of radiation protection, but a diagnostic X-ray door specification cannot simply be transferred to a LINAC room. Door selection calls for the room’s intended use and shielding design, alongside the clear opening and material specification.

Examination type, workload, beam directions and occupancy of adjacent areas inform shielding design. The door is considered together with the requirements of its protective barrier.

A LINAC door is the entrance door to a medical linear accelerator treatment room. Its access-control function and any required radiation shielding are defined with the equipment and bunker design. The same door or lead thickness is not suitable for every room.

Can a LINAC door be specified by size alone?

No. The door specification must follow the approved protection design, equipment characteristics, room layout and applicable local requirements. Dimensions alone cannot establish shielding performance.

Why do some searches use the spelling LINAK door?
